The St. Jude Garden Club was formed in 2013 for the purpose of creating and maintaining a colorful and welcoming landscape for our church campus. Wonderfully, at the Spring Cleanup Day that year, nearly seventy people, families and friends ranging in age from eight to eighty, arrived to help. In just a few hours, we cleaned out, weeded and hauled away all the debris.
That Fall we asked the Parish to sponsor a mum in the name of a loved one. The names were prayerfully read aloud and each mum was planted with prayers. How beautiful they looked!
A detailed map of the church grounds has been made. There is a list of plants that would thrive in the diverse areas on the grounds. We invite families or individuals to adopt an area and maintain it weed-free. We have project lists and wish lists.
Please join us! A green thumb is not required. Please contact the Parish Office at 973-691-1561 if you would like to become a member of the Garden Club.
Among the projects the Garden Club is working on is the Prayer Garden and Blessed Mother Shrine area (see photos below). Parishioner Dean Wade recently restored the Blessed Mother statue and grotto. We are very happy with his artistry! We encourage everyone to visit.
