Over the past few years there have been significant changes and upgrades that have been made to the parish facilities. The conversion from oil heat to gas provided the Parish with substantial savings with our heating costs. After Hurricane Sandy, the Parish and community were brought to a standstill. In response, we installed a generator system that not only allows us to continue parish activities, but also serves to make St. Jude a community shelter.
After having to endure air conditioning issues during a recent summer, Fr. Antonio formed the Building and Grounds Committee to assist him and the parish staff with developing and administering effective current and long term plans related to the infrastructure of parish property. As time goes on, it will be necessary to continually monitor and plan for normal replacement and necessary maintenance.
The committee is responsible for assessing the needs for the building and grounds, obtaining the necessary data and then making recommendations to the Pastor and Parish Finance Committee. The committee is also responsible for coordinating any activities and initiatives of other parish ministries (St. Jude Garden Club, Youth Group, etc.) and other outside organizations (Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus, etc.) that pertain to the facilities at St. Jude.
